Watch Don’t Stare

That ugly face must twist into the open drain

I watch it now

clean and hot with sweat in the afternoon

I'm so sorry

My mind figured his fate

Little knuckles cracked the way your hunchback does today

You must always ache

My mother waved my nose away, I checked the crumbs on my plate

Your hand wipes away all the veins on your forehead

And it wiped all your existence away

You must’ve died when I took my first step into the fray

The world opened, burned as red as your shame

And I’d forgotten your ugly face

I went and you stayed
